The Synod of Dordt.  Not a name that many would remember today, but the battles of different systems of faith that led up to the Synod have shaped contemporary society to this day.  Not only did this pivotal moment divide Christian theological thought it also was the genesis of America’s love affair with the concept of the “free will of man.”

 

History has many cruxes, crucial moments and moments of truth upon which all that follows depends.  Christian history is no different, and more often than many would like to admit in contemporary society, these Turning Points in Christian History have often been critical moments for those of all faiths and no faith at all.  Turning Points in Christian History is a television series that seeks to explore these moments of truth in Christian history.  Turning Points will trace the events that led up to these pivotal moments, follow the effect of their immediate aftermath and then find out how these moments have impacted and continue to impact us today.
